I'm an award-winning Executive Creative Director currently having a lot of fun working at TikTok
I believe in a more integrated approach to solving a creative brief and over the last 23 years I have been lucky enough to work in agencies both big and smaller, start-ups and long-established. And of course the most talked about tech platform in the world, TikTok.
I have been part of founding and managing two agencies. The first was an internal agency of 50 people set up with The & Partnership and WPP to service all News International brands, originally called Team news and now renamed as Pulse. The next was to offer a Direct & Digital specialism within BBH London, our company, called 7 Seconds grew to 70 people and was acquired by Publicis Groupe to operate as BBH Direct in 2019.
Mostly recently I set up and am running as ECD the creative department of TikTok (no it's not just dancing).
The work I most enjoy creating lets people interact and experience the brand, this thinking has helped me...
-Let the nation sing and dance with monkeys and elves or draw in the air with light for their moment of fame, with the original user generated X Factor sponsorship for TalkTalk.
-Create an immersive dining experience with Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge to bring the taste of Britain to Americans, courtesy of Chase Bank and British Airways.
-Raise $2 million for charity with an Olympic mobile and Facebook running app for Samsung.
-Develop a music based fitness craze in gyms and on DVD called "Hulaerobics" for Heart FM.
-Get the nation sing backing vocals on the official England football single with Dizzie Rascal and James Cordon, the single to number 1 in the charts to the delight of Simon Cowell.
-Creative Directed work on the world's biggest brands, including British Airways, Virgin Media, Carphone Warehouse, The Times, The Sun, Samsung, Tesco, TalkTalk.
I've worked across all media winning over 70 awards in digital, TV and print, including 2 Cannes Lions, 6 Revolution awards and the Grand Prix, 7 Creative Circles, Campaign posters of the year and Big awards.
Outside of adland I have:
- Written and co-directed music vids for award-winning artists including Blur's Graham Coxon's debut solo single and a video featuring dancing carpets that has over 1.6 m Youtube hits.
- Had photos feature in books, magazines and bought for ad campaign's for Mercedes. And my photos won Creative Review's 'Creative Behind The Lens'
- Written and published 3 children's books about a Hermit who's lost his home, a worm that's kidnapped by a crow and the latest 'The Magpie Mobster' who tries to steal the crown jewels.
